The Full English: professional development one day courses

As part of the learning programme of The Full English project, supported by the National Lottery through the Heritage Lottery Fund, the English Folk Dance and Song Society (EFDSS) is hosting professional development courses across the country. These events will demonstrate the successful use of folk arts to enhance learning in the school curriculum from key stages 1 - 5, including work at GCSE and A Level, inspired by The Full English digital archive of manuscript materials. If you want to gain the knowledge, skills and resources to start using folk music, dance and drama to enhance your teaching, find an event happening near you and get involved!

Listen to expert speakers, view original collections and learn how to access the world’s biggest digital archive of folk song, tune, dance and custom manuscripts.

The Full English Archive Open Day in Cambridge

The Full English Archive Open Day at Clare College, Cambridge

The sun shone and the first in our series of The Full English Archive Open Days was duly held in the Gillespie Centre at Clare College, the University of Cambridge. The star attraction here is the Cecil Sharp fair copy manuscripts – the most famous ones – which were put on display for all to see under the watchful eye of archivist Robert Athol and his team of helpers.

It was a fantastic night for the English Folk Dance and Song Society (EFDSS) at the BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards last night at the Royal Albert Hall.

BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards: Vote for The Full English

The English Folk Dance and Song Society (EFDSS) is delighted that the album inspired by The Full English digital archive has been nominated for a BBC Radio 2 Folk Award. The album, featuring Martin Simpson, Seth Lakeman, Nancy Kerr, Fay Hield, Sam Sweeney, Rob Harbron and Ben Nicholls, was commissioned by EFDSS - with a grant from the PRS for Music Foundation - and is released on Topic Records to mark the launch of The Full English digital archive in June this year.
